Beach Time!

I have always enjoyed doing different activities outside. Whether I am rock climbing, camping, kayaking, or taking a walk in the neighborhood, just getting out of the house is good for me. My brother and I love to watch the Planet Earth videos because the incredible footage they have of the different types of environment and the unbelievable selection of animals. Some of the scenes in Planet Earth are so beautiful and amazing that I find myself in awe of it all.
My favorite place in nature is the beach. I love to look at the pelicans, seashells, crabs, fish, and all of the different animals that live there. When I go to the beach, I usually surf, skimboard, and hang out with my friends and family under our canopy. I also like to snorkel, trying to follow schools of fish and observing life under the sea. Going out into the ocean, fighting against the waves and then letting them take me with them really makes me happy. We have no control over the movement and power that the ocean creates. My dream has been to surf in the barrel of a wave, being surrounded by water, listening to the constant flow of the wave around me. Even though being active is fun, I also enjoy just relaxing in a chair, looking out into the beautiful view where you can experience seeing “… a way a wave rises above the ocean horizon, a triangular wedge against the sky. If you stand where the ocean breaks on a shallow beach, you see the raised water in a wave is translucent, shot with lights”(10). The beach is where I like to be, and where I connect most with nature.
